Job hopped from unqualified work to unqualified work in my 20s and most of my 30s, now I'm almost 38 and nobody wants to hire me.

If you never progress career-wise, they'll just think that you lack ambition and are unmanageable.

In an ideal world, I could just NEETMAXX forever but my parents wouldn't allow it. It’s really over, I'll eventually leave my mark on society sometime in June if nothing picks up.

I'm around your age and I can relate to this a lot.

I'm around your age and most of my work experience is in fast food. I'm currently employed but I've been looking for something else for a long time now as I'm getting burnt out on fast food, but I've had no luck.

We're also at an age where we're facing age discrimination when it comes to unskilled labor. With unskilled jobs that require little training there is zero advantage of hiring older people, and lots of disadvantages. An 18 year old is going to be faster and have more energy than a 40 year old, and a 40 year old is more likely to utilize the company's healthcare plan, thus costing them money.

I've mostly just been doing customer service, which is really not a good match for me, but I've sort of been typecast into the role after a few jobs. And yeah...can't even hold a job for that long due to conflict at work with colleagues and management. I do decent work, but I'm not particularly diplomatic.

I have a degree in financial administration, but I quickly realized that I didn't have the personality or connections. Everything is really about whom you know and how convincing you are, and yeah looks play a massive role as well.

trade stocks and you won't have to worry about workplaces

I've had my share of issues with managers but for me the main reason I haven't progressed in my career is my low IQ. Low IQ is a major career bottleneck. I lack the intellectual aptitude to do anything that isn't repetitive, low skill labor.

Brutal that you have a degree (and likely student loan debt) and are in this situation. A few of my coworkers have degrees, and I'm not talking about the managers either.

Brutal, I don’t work either. I don’t want to be a fucking slave my entire life, and I don’t want to serve this wretched pile of shit we call society.

No student loans, but ruined my life in some other ways.

You seem very eloquent and observant in general, so I guess that it's simply a matter of how quickly you learn new concepts (basically the best proxy for IQ).

A lack of aptitude isn't the issue in my case, it's just being neurodivergent is a death sentence. I can't just be normal for a lack of a better term. Every interaction that people find to be 2nd nature, I usually overthink.

I have an extremely dry sense of humor, sometimes morbid, so I'm wary of that invisible line that could be very easily crossed, especially nowadays.

So I just keep to myself, which is terrifying to the typical midwit. Nobody can truly know what someone else is like, but a third can glean that from the examined individual's opinions and communication style. If the person is closed off, they're a big question mark, and that is truly something that they can't stand.
