He was 24 and she was 16 when they married. He met her when he was 23 and she was 15. For those of you who aren't familiar with Jake LaMotta, he was the world middleweight boxing champion from 1949 to 1951. He's in the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Died in 2017 aged 95

And she was a legit Stacy too. It's funny how he would be considered a pedo today under modern standards. Imagine the scandal that would be caused today if a 24 year old athlete married a 16 year old that he met when she was 15?

And he gave Sugar Ray Robinson his first defeat via a decision loss and was the first to knock (and perhaps only) to knock Sugar Ray Robinson down, twice. And had 2 movies made about his life.

Sugar Ray Robinson vs. Jake LaMotta (3rd meeting)

1943-02-26 : Jake LaMotta 160¾ lbs lost to Sugar Ray Robinson 145 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10
Notes
  • Robinson was a 6 to 5 favorite.
  • A crowd of 15,149 produced a gate of $60,710.
  • Each fighter received $15,000.
  • The Associated Press reported: "Sugar Ray's strategy was superb. From the opening bell he kept jabbing his famed lightning left into Jacob's face. When LaMotta rushed in to open a body attack, Sugar Ray stepped back and greeted him with a blistering right uppercut. This gave him a wide early lead."
  • Robinson was floored in the seventh round for an eight-count. Robinson later said, "He really hurt me with a left in the seventh round. I was a little dazed and decided to stay on the deck."
  • The referee gave Robinson five rounds, LaMotta three, and called two even. Neither judge gave LaMotta more than two rounds.

Sugar Ray Robinson vs. Jake LaMotta (2nd meeting)

LaMotta puts Robinson through the ropes in the eighth round.
1943-02-05 : Jake LaMotta 160½ lbs beat Sugar Ray Robinson 144½ lbs by UD in round 10 of 10
Notes
  • Robinson was a 3-1 favorite.
  • There was a crowd of 18,930 at Olympia Stadium.
  • Robinson was knocked through the ropes in the eighth round. The International News Service (INS) reported: "A right to the body and a left to the head knocked Robinson through the ropes in the eighth round. Robinson lay sprawling outside the ring from a hard right to the body and a left to the head and the count was nine when the bell rang, saving the negro lad from a knockout."
  • The INS reported: "In a previous meeting, Robinson copped a 10-round decision from LaMotta. Robinson won that fight by steering clear of LaMotta's hard punches and sticking strictly to clever boxing. Friday night, however, he tried to slug it out with the bundle of dynamite from the Bronx and consequently had one of the most sensational winning streaks in the history of boxing rudely interrupted."
