They make us smarter and better than normies who dont read. Also novels and stories let us get away from our own misery.
Books are great for self improving our mind and getting smarter, less depressed and accepting reality. If you dont read books you are missing out so much.
And no with books I dont mean the bible or feminist fight club or shit like that.
Read: Dostojewski, napoleon hill, george orwell and many more.

I like old books too. I hardly read anything written after the 1950s

These are the books I have read this year.

Beowulf
The Odyssey
The Aenid
Clouds of Glory
A History of the English speaking peoples
The Gallic war
The Oresteia
The Campaigns of Alexander
The lives of the Noble Grecians and Romans
Paradise Lost
The Mayor of Casterbridge
The Vicar of Wakefield
Frankenstein
Interview with the Vampire
The Last of the Mohicans
The Lord of the Rings part 1 and 2

The newest book on that list is interview with the vampire. Two guys who live with a loli of culture lol that's my crude interpretation of the book. I can't stand SJW and bluepill shit, that's why I avoid 21st century literature like the plague. By the way, where do you get your books? I download mine on a site called " library genesis", then I convert the files to the appropriate format for my Kindle.

Same here, even with books on topics i really enjoy like war. It’s over for adhdcels

I just can't stay focused with my depression and anxiety to sit down and really read a book.

Depends on what you're reading and why.

If you're reading nonfiction to expand your mind and learn things, just keep that in mind.

If you're reading genre fiction, don't bother, it's clearly not doing its job. I read Heinlein's Starship Troopers in one sitting twice, while most genre fiction books can't even hold my attention for 20 pages, especially ones published after 2015.

I'm gonna start readmaxing again. I'm currently reading 1984, it's decent so far

fiction is top tier cope if you find something fun
unfortunately finding anything enjoyable is near impossible, most fiction published nowadays is as creative and eloquent as fanfiction written by 12-year-olds

jfl If you read modern books

Primarily read non fiction. Best cope ever.

I either get them from the library, off something like Gutenberg, or I just search around the internet for a free PDF. I used to buy my books jfl.

Frankenstein

The Lord of the Rings part 1 and 2

I'm going to read the Odyssey at one point but I have a few books I want to get through first
