It is true though that brown eyes are from a pragmatic evolutionary perspective the better adaptation, hence the reason why most of the population has them and not the random mutation for blue eyes.

Blue eyes only exist for sexual selection causes. Since the first mutation appeared it spread because people just found them pretty to look at, which they naturally are. They do not have any advantage, only problems.

Despite the fact that the total population worldwide of people with blue eyes is smaller than any other color, you have the most eye problems occuring in that demographic proportional statistically.

I would say advantage was to see a prey during snow cuz this mutation appeared in europe 6,000-10,000 years ago they have snow and its hard to see white colour prey(for example rabbits) , so blue eyes helped seeing prey by capturing more light photons during winter so its easier to see prey, they had advantage and disadvantages are consequences of advantages

I thought people with blue eyes can see slightly better at night, a useful adaptation for long dark northern European winters. But yeah it's crazy how people and especially ethnics obsess over having colored, especially blue, eyes. 6.000 was 14.000 years after the Neolithic, long after the Mesolithic and the Ice age. If anything about your idea would be sound the mutation should have ocurred during the Mesolithic, not 6.000 BC. There is no advantage in the snow aswell. Snow reflects sunlight very strongly, part of the reason the Inuits have east asian eyelids and used the first ever created "sun glasses" out of wood to protect their eyes. If anything brown eyes would be more helpful in the reflecting snow.
