Think of it this way; God answering a prayer ≠ granting it.
He doesn't ignore prayer; he hears, he answer, but not always in the way in which we expect.
(Also if defining "answer" - a result that comes about of the prayer).
Also another way to look at it, if God answered all prayers, it would not be practical. For example, if you prayed every time your mother got sick, for her to get better and not die, and the Lord answered every time, she may live near-eternally - which is not apart of plan.
In the end, he knows what is best for us and it's all apart of the plan that is "beyond human comprehension".
