People expect you to be a good, contributing member of society, to care about others, do everything for them. But in reality, no one cares about you. They want you to feel bad for them but never ask how you’re doing. It’s like they take what they need from you and leave you empty. It’s depressing trying to meet everyone’s expectations when no one even sees you. But society expects you to just keep going, keep doing the “right” thing, even though you get nothing back. I was abandoned at a young age, then faced bullying and abuse from adults, who weren’t even my real family, who were supposed to care for me. All I ever wanted was to connect with others, but every time I tried, I realized how little anyone actually cared. “Nobody is entitled to sympathy, inkwell. “
