i had my tent hitched up in the woods, and it was pretty hidden and out of sight.
when i had to left it in the woods to stay at this sharedhouse between the 11th and 21st, and went back to it, it was still there.
same with those 2 pot noodles i left there and completely forgot about.
my experience being homeless was no different from camping.

the soup kitchen here is very generous with helping people out, and i was able to get a tent, sleeping bag, pillow and a few blankets from them.
they were even nice enough to let me store my belongings in their shed too.

there was this one night where it was raining, and some rain water got into my tent.

but i was able to use a spare blanket it soak up the rain water, and use a dry spare one to sleep with.

No, I tried it out before voluntarily, it wasn't exactly an enthralling experience.
