The lower class simply can't afford beautiness (I'm not talking about physical attractiveness). How you ever seen someone from working class living in a nice house, surrounded by nice looking thing? For poor people everything is supposed to be practical, there's no space for useless things, no room for any aesthetics. Beautiness fades into the unpleasant for eye greyness of everyday world, as someone from working class you are surrounded by ugliness your whole life and soon you almost loose any sense of beauty, it just blends altogether, it looses any meaning.
