The stigma is is that it’s cartoony. It’s like claiming “Scooby-Doo” can easily compete with “Walking Dead.” One’s demographic is aimed differently than the other. Men playing Nintendo games is to me like children playing Arma III. Plus, the other Jap games I know of are just character-driven RPGs. I highly dislike character-driven anything.

The real reason people turned on Nintendo is because before the release of the switch, there was a lot of talk from the company about getting away from the philosophy of "making games for everyone" and getting back to "making games for core gamers". The switch came out and it just seemed ok, mostly no one who on the fence was convinced, but then they announced all the cardboard labo shit and while everybody was like "wtf this isn't 'getting back to core gaming'", all the balding, bearding, soyinfused numales on social media gushed about how great playing with cardboard would be. Hence the memes were born and now the switch, whether it deserves to be or not, is strongly associated with soyboys.
Females has to be on top of everything. Fuck equality they want special treatment, they want to be on top. Video games was the last place to escape the tormenting realization of real life and rejection by girl. I am not much of a gamer anymore I almost never play video games. But I remember how amazing it would be to play Battlefield 2, Bad Company 2, Counter Strike Source, Insurgency etc. Games where there weren´t any female characters. So for a few hours I could completely forget that girls existed. You can´t do the same with movies because there are girls in every movie or series. Video games is a place for refuge for a lot of males and they are taking that away from males.
