They’d be my favorite but they have the worst stats of the three two-handed weapon types.
Axes have the worst stagger, one power attack gets you about one extra hit afterwards, if you’re lucky a second hit before the enemy gets back on their feet.
A war hammer’s stagger guarantees two hits after the first power swing. And the great sword’s speed and lower stamina cost compensates for the less impactful stagger because you can keep making the enemy stagger over and over and it costs less stamina overall than the other two weapons.
The limb splitter perk also sucks the worst out of all the specialized two-handed trees, which is really unfortunate because I really like bleed damage. But the damage from that is so lack luster, even on 3/3 of the perks.
The battle axe gets mogged so hard that I don’t even bother switching to it till later on in the game where I’m too overpowered for it to matter what weapon I use.
