my advice is to first start out by learning all the grammar and vocabulary, classroom style

then once you've learned most of the common vocabulary and grammar, and can properly make sentences and read decently, then it's time to start practicing listening and speaking

listen to music (with lyrics on), talk to spanish teachers on italki, watch tv shows or youtube



i recommend you go on libgen.rs and download the "Avancemos" books, since that's what I used

I was 12 years old when I started learning Spanish, but I didn't really take it seriously until like 22 or so

I actually grew up speaking 3 languages at a time, so they were all co-native languages: fuzhonese, mandarin, english

although my mandarin is the weakest out of all 4, since I don't use it much, and it's harder to improve than Spanish

I disagree with this, it's def beneficial to start out with some grammar books at the beginning. I'd say first read some grammar and vocab books, and once you manage to get a vocab of about 1,000 stem words and their derivations, then start consooming media as much as you can and make sure to look up any new words. Flashcards are ideal when getting that initial vocab, I recommend quizlet tbh, you can also add pictures to the flashcards.
