All we know is that many autistic people have gut issues, issues doing daily chores like showering etc. There is a multitude of factors that combine into autistic people smelling bad:


1. gut issues - either from actual health conditions or from higher level of stress they have destroying their digestion
2. picky eating, sometimes they only eat slob because they dont like normal food
3. sensory issues: showering feels like pain on their body, sensation of water on their skin causes stress, soaps can be very irritating also due to smell of detergents etc
4. routines: they often have routines that make them feel safe including to wear the same clothes frequently
5. problems with executive function and working memory: This makes planning and executing basic tasks like chores, cleaning, showering much harder for them, so they dont do it as often
6. health issues: There is a whole list of health conditions associated with autism, like increased risk of heart disease, diabetes and a lot of other things
