Autism is really apparent from a young age. It's a spectrum, of course, but signs of autism are apparent when you are 1-2, no matter how you look like. So saying that enough good-looking men go undiagnosed to skew statistics to this extent is laughable.

I am a diagnosed aspie and i diagnosed at a late age when i first started to go to a psychiatrist. I know aspergers is different than autism but you have serious communication problems to be diagnosed when you are 1-3 years old and i think that is not the case with most autists here. The term socially retarded is more accurate since mental retardation implies intellectual disability unless you also have an IQ below 70 as well, in which case either term can be used.

An introvert understands social cues, can read non-verbal body language, has no trouble with eye contact, doesn't have autistic voice or body language, can hold a normal conversation with decent small talk, doesn't stim, doesn't repeat words, has no restricted interests , has no sensory issues or motor skill problems. Basically your typical introvert is NT and only prefers to be alone more often than an extrovert, since he derives energy from solitude rather than being around other people.

I don't think I had a speech delay, I actually started speaking pretty early, even earlier than most kids, yet I might have been diagnosed with high functioning autism instead of aspergers although I might have been diagnosed with both by different doctors.The diagnosis is hardly as clearly cut as that source claims, different doctors can diagnose differently and since 2013 both those disorders have been merged under Autistic spectrum disorder.
