I guess it's because even if it may not be an ideal life, it does provide some level of happiness, security and contentment.
And for people who are controlling or trying to worsen the lives of others for some reason, even that might feel like too much.
I wonder if a time will come when they'll even aggressively come for people who are just trying to get some peace and quiet at home. They already are a bit I suppose with things like criminalising speech online.
