There's still something appealing about the awkwardness of it imo, and this is normies we're talking about so their standard of sex is pretty high. 

Yeah, hence why all of us are depressed or suicidal in some way.

I think the mental image of some shared awkwardness and innocence makes it even more bitter sweet. If only one of the involved parties lacks experience and the other one knows exactly what to do and already lost the magical idealization of early adolescence then the intimacy caused by a feeling of vulnerability won't be possible in the same way.
