if you played the storyline of altair and ezio, you see that it is a game about uncovering secret societies i.e freemasonry.
Templars at first werent degenerates, but then they evolved into the opposite direction.
The concept of freemasonry is the modern version of Templars.
AC Rogue was about demonstrating the game from their perspective, even if a bit biased to give sympathy to the main protagonist.
AC IV Black Flag, i dont even consider it an Assassins Creed game, however it is the best pirate game out there.

i felt like writing this.
it popped to my head.

I guess. By assassin's creed Christianity doesnt exists. It was all the power of the apple of eden that biblical and historical people used.

ac straight up tells the players that the pagan gods were demons(isu) and the christian god isnt shown as being one of them
also templars are supposed to be freemasons (anti christians ) tho some parts of the game are a bit anti christian (supporting the turks in acr)

But it isnt explicitly anti-Christian. ( anti-Jesus)

Templars dont define true Christianity.
They were occultists and looters for the most part.
Dont confuse Templars with Crusaders btw
It can be messy.

ACR was a game from the Ottoman's perspective.
