IMO it's best to fap once a week to once a month. Beyond that and the horniness becomes too much of a burden. Although some nofappers proclaim that it eventually goes away but I've never gone long enough to know whether that's true.

You need a concrete reason to stop though, otherwise you will become nihilistic and let your arousal control you sooner or later, especially if you are depressed.
