It's so weird.

When I was a kid, I was really boisterous and constantly misbehaving. But these days I'm much more refined and I try to mostly do things "by the book".

But I feel like most people I come across actually went the opposite way. When they were younger they were kind of timid and followed the rules but now they're kind of hyper-assertive and just want to bend and break them the whole time.

It's flipped. XD

EDIT -- Maybe I'm just living in the past too much. In my head it's like the 1950s and everyone is all mature and refined and walking around in a suit listening to Sinatra. XD

When i was a kid i strictly followed rules and played it fair. Now i just do my thing which i think its the appropriate for the moment.

The ones who win in life are always those who don't follow the rules.

Maybe I care too much?

Like, I'm a total softy and... I care. About others, about society, etc. Nobody else really seems to care, or very few.

It's tough because something like this should be reciprocal for it to work.
Maybe that's why the society went to shit so relatively quickly, erosion of trust is more like an avalanche that is impossible to stop really.

Yeah true. People give up.

I feel like compromise is something that's always worth considering. Diplomacy!

But not just being nice to people who are bad.

I do the same thing I think. I was pretty wild as a kid, always got in trouble, and now it’s like I’m overcompensating. Undoubtedly it contributes to being an inkwell too…

Following rules is for npc sheep

I’m still suffering from the “oppositional defiant disorder” as a grown ass man. It’s common for people with ADHD to dislike being told what to do. Whenever someone talks to me in an authoritative tone I instantly wish him death. That’s when rejection sensitivity and emotional dysregulation come into play, kek

I mean, the lockdowns show that people are often still rule-abiding normies

But yeah, in many places the 'rules' don't apply if you're part of the in-crowd, or you're seen as part of the community. They get bent or broken all the time, and nobody cares. If you follow them you're seen as a loser
