I dropped Stardew Valley for this reason, that shit burns to play. It’s a shame because it’s a really fun and addicting game but cmon! Owning your own customizable house and plot of land in a quiet small town in the wilderness, the soft nostalgic music and pixel art style, the nature based atmosphere, befriending everyone in town and eventually marrying a waifu of your choice, having her move in with you and having your kids.. This game is unplayable for me.

Some romance stuff in games is like that to me. I get too depressed because I know someone like that would never be interested in me irl so I end up just turning off the game.

No, I am generally able to separate fantasy from reality so it doesn't always bother me. Most games don't address lookism in any meaningful way so I can just kind of forget about it for a while and use it as escapism.
