Are we the current sanitized version of old fashioned marauders?

I read this article which describes us thus:

They're not as rich or good looking as they'd like to be. By their own appraisal, they are the perpetually left swiped. And they're weaponising loserdom.

Rather than gathering to comfort each other in lonely hearts clubs, they're congealing into self-radicalising hate groups online, where the masculinity is toxic and the rape fantasies are graphic. Thus the usual maxim about such people needing to get off their computers and into the real world gets a chilling edge, given that what incels say they want to do IRL is hyperbolically rape, pillage and plunder.

Is this not what marauders were in the old days? Lonely, weird, awkward, frustrated men who felt they had nothing left in life, banding together to as they say "rape, pillage, and plunder"?

Now I'm not saying anyone should do any of those things. I am a pacifist who still hopes one day to be normal with enough surgery.

But isn't that in essence what we are? But instead of meeting and banding together in seedy taverns, we come online to blow off steam here instead.

I imagine most maurading parties in the old days weren't full of well adjusted popular Chads. They were probably loaded with the outcasts. The ones with nothing to lose. Guys with more swords than muscles. Guys who would do anything because they didn't care if they lived or died. The ugly. The awkward. The dumb.

Chads probably stayed home with their harems and just pumped another vag instead. Why risk it like those crazy incels?

Is this actually legit? Is that who we are?

Ugly men in olden times could more easily find a wife due to enforced monogamy, but I agree most of the bandits / marauders / pirates were probably ugly/loser men with a chip on their shoulder.
