no father figure my entire life, mom forced me to go to events as a kid and teen even though she knew i was the only boy their without his dad, had to stay away from home many times at camps for a week stuck in the woods, gave me panic attacks to be away, she barely stuck a foot up my ass so i was able to LDAR for intervals of time about a year and a half at most b4 she lit a fire under me to get a job, JFL and im the only child and she still belitted, starved, and mocked me my entire life.

Absolutely. There is a limit to how much they are willing to risk in terms of loving something that doesn't seem likely to thrive. Many species eat their weak young.
