I suffer from severe depression, i have nothing in my life that even gives me pleasure. I want to feel good in my dreams. Once in a while I get a dream where I interact with a girl (it's never even a conversation or any physical touch, just a short social interaction, or she smiles at me) which makes me feel very happy and gives me major lifefuel.

Is there anyone here who can lucid dream? I only get a nice dream maybe once every couple months and it lasts very short. I dream very rarely and when I dream it's often horrible nightmares or random nonsense, very rarely is it a happy dream. Is it possible to get happy dreams more often and make them last longer?

I wish I could

Now this looks like a job for me.

It's different for everyone but here are some things based of me and someone I know irl who is very good at manipulating his dreams, also funfact: It's highly likely that we dream very night, we just rarely remember it. Another fun fact, the vast majority of dreams occur in the REM sleep phase which is entered around 45-90 minutes after falling asleep if IRC.

- First thing is I find my dreams are basically an exact reflection of what I think and daydream about during the day, so obviously there was a phase where I would somewhat regularly dream with my imaginary girlfriend (deadass had one) and sometimes they were good, I would talk to her and some of the situations I imagined in my head of how I would meet her actually happened and it was great. However I eventually gave up on this as it was still not frequent enough to be worth the investment of becoming severely depressed having to daydream about it all day, however that does not seem like an issue to you.

- The other guy was similar as well but what worked well for him specifically was basically bingewatching media as a cope and eventually his brain would conjure up a dream with an antagonist of one of the films he watched, usually with an accompanying foid of course. Basically his brain worked of a clear antagonist and the dream would be built around that.
- Set an alarm for somewhere between 2-5am, he preferred later around 5 I preferred 2-3 just find out what works for you. This is important as we best remember dreams when we wake up soon after them, this method helps a shit ton. And your sleep won't really be disrupted as we wake up around 3-4 times a night anyway and don't remeber it and you probs won't remember the alarm either.

- If you get a good dream that you want to savour write it down immediately after, this will help you remember. Apparently it will also help you remember dreams in the future but IDK.

- Now this is the most important thing: I'm an insomniac so every since I was little I would rock around in my bed for ages before falling asleep thinking up imaginary scenerios, when I was younger I would self-insert into books I was reading or games I was playing, or movies, TV shows and shit and I would have dreams about that, now I imagine all sorts of scenarios where I'm happy like in a previous thread I posted about becoming a pro skier or mountaineer and just living with a helmet and mask on so no-one sees my face etc. Or I just imagine being really good at my favourite sports and I have dreams about that as well. Now you can probs guess where I'm going here but when I imagine having a foid or cuddling one that is the biggest creator of good dreams, especially when I used to hug my pillow and imagine it's a foid (not joking) and fall asleep that would help me dream.

Anyway might make a whole post abt this, there should really be a megathread about dreamcoping where everyone pools their ideas cos this could possibly be the best cope if perfected. Also why inception is my favourite movie.
