It could be the other way around. Uglyness causes social isolation which leads to autism.

Or they could be just related without any cause and effect.

I've nothing to back up my claim other than anecdotal experience but there is definitely an autism face. They have a specific kind of face that's gormless and neotenous that just tips you off without even seeing their behavior. They look perpetually helpless or unaware of what's going on around them.

Genetics are strongly related with physical appearance, Autism is a great genetic defect so it's logical that almost every autist is ugly.
