I did about 120 approaches, 4 approaches a day for a few months, when I was in my twenties. I did approaches on the sidewalk, in stores, in the mall, on the beach, in the club, pretty much everywhere.

The general response is always they turn their back to you and act as if you don't exist. You know they hear you because they all turn their back to you, or if in a non moving group hudde and close off facing their backs outwards.

As far as nothing to lose. Sure there was nothing to lose a decade or two ago, but now that sort of thing can get you legal trouble for harrasment.
