Also, I think people misconstrue "teasing" and "bullying" as one in the same, but also that it has to be physical for it to be considered an actual problem. No one, and I mean "no one", ever put their hands on me... they didn't have to, they just have to orchestrate a "Us vs. You" mentality, pinning other students against you. If anything, I dealt more with feeling outcasted / mock'd by my peers all because I didn't agree with certain narratives that were being spewed. When you become the "target", it pretty much destroys any future encounters you have with your peer group, especially in HS. Those final four years? You fuck up in Freshmen? No one will forgive you or give you the benefit of a doubt. How people first perceive you is all they have to have in order to decide on how to treat you. I was mostly ignored, but that shit can get overwhelming as time goes by, especially my Junior / Senior year... that shit was heartbreaking.
