Not really i was mostly pirating games anyway i maybe bought a 25-40 physical boxed games in my entire life, rest were from magazines (shitload of them 100+ cds/dvds). After 2008 i almost completely moved to digital due Steam so i can't relate. I haven't touched a disk in like 13 years and don't even on a cd/dvd drive anymore.

No, and I'm old enough to go way back to the cartridge era.

It was different when physical media WAS the game.

But, once I got my first PC in 1999 and soon started emulating SNES/Genesis games, all that faded away.

Then for the PS2 and more so XBox era, all the fun for me became modding and saving as many games as I could to hard drive.

I know I'm very different compared to normies on this, though.

seeing PS3 games (much less PS4) and calling it 'back in the day' kinda pisses me off, but I happen to own Sonic Unleashed on the PS2 still so that hits some nostalgia

the thing is while I keep my old collection I basically don't use it for the moment and it's easy to steal or destroy in person so investing digitally kinda seems to make sense - plus then you're showcasing ownership and getting stickers etc

of course I used my PS2 a heck of a lot more hours than I did games via steam, but SOME DAy when I figure out hardware ergonomics... surely
