I do it all the time and my lips are always bleeding as a result. I always tear off the skin without even realizing it until it starts bleeding all over my hand again.

Can't say I do that often. There usually isn't that much to pick off.
I did with the skin around my nails, all of my fingers where always bleeding, It's been almost two months I've finally managed to stop it
