Serious anyone here on ADHD meds?

I was just diagnosed with ADHD last year and am considering going on stimulants to see if it helps with some of my symptoms. but I've heard bad things about all of them, and for the record, I'm also autistic. I was diagnosed with autism at 8 so I think everyone just assumed all of my retard traits came from that. it wasn't until I started seeing some new doctors last year that we realized it probably is more complex than that.

I really struggle with feeling overwhelmed and it makes me exhausted. I feel too mentally tired to get anything done unless I'm absolutely forced to, like for work. are any of you on stimulants you think have helped you with similar issues? or any meds that have helped you in general with minimal side effects? would help to know if you're autistic too.

In all honesty, you could try them for a week and see if it makes any difference. The bad side of these stimulants is that eventually they will downregulate your dopamine receptors, which has negative effects overall. And you will become dependant on them to function. Without dopamine, there's not much motivation or drive to do anything.

I'm not on ADHD meds but I've done all kinds of stimulants, for recreational use. My friend does take lisdexamf as he is diagnosed with ADHD and he swears that it helps him. He is now employed, so I guess it works. Before going on meds he was a NEET for a pretty long time.

I got tested for ADHD as a kid but never got diagnosed because my parents fought against and didn't want me going on meds for it. Not sure whether that was a good thing or not but I might be getting an adult diagnosis with it soon.

from what little research I've done so far, I feel like giving kids stimulants is generally a bad idea, so maybe that was for the best. but as adults who aren't developing anymore, and need to be independent/functional, we definitely need it if nothing else is working I think.

Maybe i was just doomed by my genes. I started taking it at 13 at 5'4. Im currently 19 and 5'6.

Your ADHD could actually be CPTSD. I am talking to the wizard this coming week to get on ADHD meds and I heard it can actually be calming than stimulating. We'll see. I don't like the idea of being on meds and stayed away for 30 years but who knows, you can always get off of it if you dont like it. It's not like benzos where you get fucked up if you try to stop.
