I'm sure this is cherry picked a fair bit, but a lot of locals in WV/VA are talking about how half of Gen Z there is on fentanyl and welfare.
Is it really that bad?

Obesity rate of this region is for sure in the ≈50% range as well.
How are these places even functioning, they don't have Mexican labour there either.
