I scroll down to see maybe it provoked a thoughtful discussion on what ppl think about nukes and maybe a political debate. But nope.

What I see is a everyone trying to put meme each other and get as much as thumbs up they want. It’s so pathetic when you see what’s really going on.

the value of great content is lost because everyone wants to take away the attention from the video and want ppl to give them attention for their shitty punch line. I ducking hate normies.

you have a group of smart ppl having discussions and normies barge in and start ruining everything.

I'm 99% certain youtube changed the way comments appear so negative or controversial comments even with a lot of votes don't appear at the top. It's all just very positive stuff.

I blame small talk culture exclusively. However, sometimes there is no real substance to the topic or it was discussed to no end time and time again. I mean, look at our forum. Do yo see a lot of new content every day or it is more of reinforcing the truths?

Memes and one liners is a mostly how folklore works. It is a double-edged sword. It may devolve into stupid parroting, but it also helps to preserve traditions and values.
