In some way or the other some men could have seen this coming and again a lot of these concerns fueled distrust of women petitioning for more rights during the first waves of feminism. There's some redpillers that say that women would kill their kids to be with an "alpha." Substitute "alpha" with chad and there are stories of this or something similar happening. Imo it was never about the kids or the husband needed to stay to help raise the kids. Women might want kids but again that might only be for the image it gifts them. Being a mother and having a kid is a status thing to a lot of women but that doesn't mean they like how their children can get in the way of their life.
For evidence look at child abuse statistics (it's mainly women that harm children and not men) and how many women are willing to divorce and leave a man they are with for a better opportunity even if it hurts the kids in the existing relationship. To believe otherwise is to believe that women are more selfless when it comes to children which imo the statistics don't bear out.

In humans, parents die usually when their grandkids become adults.
This is because our parents are meant to help us also parents our kids, and why we even get to see our grandparents.
Also, I think modern society is making people a lot shittier, especially if they live in cities without extended families.
In smaller communities, your reputation was everything. And psychologists have shown that reputation is what makes people make moral behaviours. This was fine is small villages where everyone knew one another, but in bigger cities this is impossible and shitty people can keep going around and staying clean with their reputation by just not being around people that would know them.
Also, if there are too many people around, we get used to people that we don't bond with, when in older times every human we knew we bonded with (or were enemies with, traded with and say only once, etc).

How much of that can you trust though? Imo such theories are to paint a more optimistic picture of human nature than what it actually is.
There's more competition for jobs, for getting and keeping a position of status and improving ones image (of which social media plays a big part in). Overpopulation, more competition than ever and increasingly higher standards to get by are the consistent themes of this time.

Humans just have genetically have a longer lifespan than other animals. Maybe a mutation resulted in this. There are still animals that live longer than humans nonetheless. As with a lot of things in life the circumstances are random.
