I like FromSoftware titles starting with Demon's Souls, and I've enjoyed their Soulslike games since including Bloodborne. With that said, they opened the fucking floodgates for a bunch of wannabe clones aping on the formula they helped popularize with these sloppy, hard for the sake of being hard clones. China and South Korea are especially guilty of this. Hell even games that had no business being Soulslikes (Stellar Blade) still feels the need to implement their mechanics half-assed. Some games like Lies of P does it well, but at least 90% of Soulslikes think the only good thing about Dark Souls is "hurr hurr, you die in two hits regardless of HP, defense, or level". A game being difficult does not equal good. What made Dark Souls a fair game was the fact that you can ass rape the enemies just as hard as they could fuck you up. It was an even fight the majority of the time and the majority weren't these obnoxious bullet sponges.

With that said, one thing that I'm glad about is that difficult and challenging games are a great form of gatekeeping. Foids fucking hate a challenge and not having everything handed to them on a silver platter which means that these kinds of games form a good barrier against the cockroaches from infesting these games. The barrier of entry for normie garbage is much lower (FPS's, easier RPG franchises, hack n' slash, etc) so I think that's one reason why so many other games have been destroyed by feminist cunts. Challenge in games is almost completely gone at this point, and fucking retarded foids played a significant role in that with their incessant screeching about "iNcLuSiViTy" aka, any drooling dumb fuck normie/foid can sleep their way through the game with minimal effort for some shitty and short lived dopamine hit.

TLDR: fan of Soulslikes, tired of the oversaturation, appreciate how relatively free of foid meddling compared to other games.

Used to be really into Souls games, but now I'm just tired of the saturation. Most hack and slash games can be completed fairly easily if you just want to complete the story, yes outside of Ninja Gaiden. Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, and old God of War games were never extremely difficult games to finish.

I never played Code Vein. I heard that it has connections to God Eater which I did like. At least you have the sequel to look forward to.

I actually agree that yes, a well made hack n slash is easy to beat and and much harder to master. I don't think your average Souls fan (myself included) could beat a game like Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry on the highest difficulty while getting halfway decent score results.

Oh so then you simply have a problem with the bare minimum barrier to entry, but that in practice doesn't actually play out as you might think since Elden Ring is a million times more popular than NG or DMC.

You must play Nioh and Code Vein, they are of extremely high quality. In fact, they blow all of the other slops-likes out of the water.

I played souls Trilogy and Elden ring. Sekiro and the others sadly aren't attractive to me, because they lack this type of metallic armor that i like so much.

I know Bloodborne doesn't have armors, but i heard it's similar to DS3, my favorite one, so i still wanted to try it. Maybe if i play and like it, i will open my mind to these other games.

I never cared much about 3d souls (only played 1 and 2, only finishing the latter and never touching it ever since, and now that Bloodborne can be emulated I lack the motivation to install it) but I detest how the genre has spilled over metroidvanias.
 
Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro were cool because they had cool well researched settings with loads of allegories/inspirations and a ‘down-to-earth’ style (no metal pauldron bs, people wear normal clothes and live in normal buildings, monsters are just regular animals/people with weird modifications)

This stood out amongst a sea of cartoonish slop and weeb nonsense with dinosaurs next to villagers, everyone adorned in a suit of armor, zero cohesion in the setting, tacked on sci-fi and steampunk, DnD/Dragon Quest setting instead of real worldbuilding

People shit on the ‘idea guy’ like Kojima then go straight into game dev and media without any inspiration just copying the ‘zeitgeist’ and ‘what’s currently selling’ aka standards set by idea guys who directed unique and interesting media

Difficult bosses are fun sometimes, but the best part was the engaging level design. Acrobat boss #193268 and corridor level design is boring af

The lack of inspiration can’t be understated tbh. Even Dark Souls 3 which is the lowest FromSoft souls game at least has some cool Near Eastern aesthetics baked in (Ringed City and Carthus), all kinds of cathedrals and knights while most soulslikes are empty grimderp
 
I have never played this shit but Im sick of seeing these games anyway. Always see people flexing that they "beat le hard game!!".

Not a fan of impossible difficulty slop.

Probably the single best game example I can point to as a great representation of the tough but fair model of gameplay is the old Contra game sequel classic known as Super C.

Possibly also Mega Man 2.

I quit souls likes before finishing the Dark Souls endgame. Don't have time to grind through endless bosses like it's a part time job.

I never was a PlayStation guy, i played on PC and Nintendo all my life, but i saw game plays of God of War 3 that i liked and want to play it someday. First 2 God of War games and the ones after the third aren't attractive to me.

Being enthusiastic about slops-likes is an oxymoron, and if you have ever bought a video game you have committed a morally bad deed, that's right, even indie, should (not can!) be pirated. Either way Code Vein 2 will blow the other souls games out of the water just like Code Vein did.

Since i have no interest in other souls games Code Vein wins by default for me, but yeah i sure hope it's entertaining at least.

I only play the fromsoft games + hollow knight and silksong anyway idgaf about any other games

Might give lies of P a shot some time soon tho
