When I tell you that the way my parents treated me (and my brother) vs my younger sister is almost like night and day. Me and my brother were neglected, and any perceive transgression (even as so much for being loud) was punished with a whooping from our father and a verbal beatdown from our mother. We also had to do something on time and (this is important) we never ask for anything because it was always an automatic "no"
However when it came to my sister, it was the complete opposite. All of her cries were met, she never got whooped and my family refuse to discipline her. In fact one time I got yelled at by my mother because I expressed frustration of my sister's ungratefulness (long story short I bought a sandwich for my sister and she snatched it outta my hand without a thank you).
Funnily enough (or rather because of this) my sister is not only a complete spoiled brat but she also annoys and infuriates my parents but they for some reason cannot seem to put their foot down to punish her.
My parents treatment of my sister vs me and my brother led me to believe that my parents likely inflicted their severe punishment on us because we were boys but because my sister is a girl they soften alot.
I have no doubt that my parents will likely be way more harsh should I had another brother instead of a sister.
