Or anyone that’s studying software development in college?

is it difficult? What’s the math like? Is it true you need to be an aspie to fully understand it?

It’s what i’m planning to do in college. Only thing I believe i’d be remotely interested in. If not, i’ll probably just sui.

I don't think you ever study math for computer science, but all kinds of math are useful for it.

At the end of the day computer science is usually aimed at modeling real life problems which usually involve math.

Mostly trigonometry, analysis, linear algebra, boolean logic, all kinds of stuff.

Depends on where you go but it shouldn't be bad. Theres only one math course thats cancer and thats discrete math, you have to have a good iq to understand it but no one really uses it in jobs.

Make sure you get an internship/research position by your junior year(earlier the better).

Yeah i’m not sure about needing maths when you’re actually working, but you definitely need it in college. I looked through the modules and discrete maths is there. Rope?

Wish I could help you man, but I don’t have the IQ

I'm an oldfag so things may have changed since I got my degree, but I'll tell you what I remember:

> is it hard?
For me, no. I enjoyed every CS-related class, including the math. Back when I was in college, computer labs were a thing (I think everyone just has laptops now, and the labs are closed) and the outcast loser people like me who enjoyed programming would stay in the labs until the early morning hours. Then we'd get A's on the tests and on our assignments and the normies would rage and ask how we did it, etc. They couldn't comprehend the answer: we enjoyed it so we stayed up late doing it.

If anything about it is difficult for you, or just not fascinating to you, then don't even bother. Because there are other people who really enjoy it and learn on our own because of that.

The math that is specific to CS is called "discrete math" - things like sets, graphs, trees - it's not arithmetic. I actually liked regular math too though, so I can't say if liking regular math is a requirement, only that the extra math you take for CS isn't like the math you had in high school.

Well, I'll be a bit of an elitist and say that I wouldn't get along with you if you were just a normie who didn't really love to code.

But (in my opinion, unfortunately), I happen to know that universities are very eager to dumb down the degree to make it more """accessible""" by which they mean, "allow foids to survive" - not sure how you can avoid that tbh.

I didn't much like the non-degree courses like history and english, because they were polluted by leftist ideology. But in my degree courses, I was generally pretty happy. My favorite classes were Data Structures I and II, Data Organization, and Networking. I liked classes that were specific to languages a little less, but still got on okay. The only classes that required human interaction and group work (which sucks) were the software engineering classes.

try modafinil, adderal, ritalin, phenibut

@Transcended Trucel said it is a coarse that is very grindy

only the math and science classes were Grindy(especially at high ranking unis/prestigious programs). the rest can be cheesed to a large degree(cultural anthropology, English whatever) I.

Damn. Really appreciate your response.
So are you saying that if I find any part of it difficult I should quit even if I do find it interesting?
I heard that discrete maths is a pain in the ass even for smart people. I’m not going to prestigious university or anything though.

I'm complete shit at math and will most likely minor in CS

Are you in college yet

Anyone can do it really

are you saying that if I find any part of it difficult I should quit even if I do find it interesting?
That's my personal opinion, yeah. I'm thinking about things that I find interesting - let's say, quantum mechanics. I can't do feynman diagrams! That shit is over my head. I find it interesting, but the trouble is, I'll be competing with people who find it interesting and also easy.

All I'm saying is, if you struggle because it's difficult, then maybe it's not what you want to be doing for the rest of your life. For me, it was a passion. I really enjoyed it and didn't mind hammering away coding for days at a time.

But you know, don't change your life plan based on some anonymous loser on incels.co. lol. Good luck you, man! I'll tell you, high school was so rough for me. I nearly roped a bunch of times. Getting to college and finding something I loved, that I could do alone - it saved me.

is it difficult?

Mostly no, it just take a LOT of time. Be ready to softwaremax for hours at a time.

What’s the math like?

Depends where you want to go. Most CS will cover algorithms, which is discrete math heavy (number theory, game theory, etc): it's likely to be highly unlike the math you did in high school. Pure CS, in it of it self, is often considered its own field of math. Knowing a bit of calc will help, but knowing how to design an efficient algorithm uses a very different logical skill set. The hardest thing I every did so far in CS didn't require anything more advanced than multiplying on occasion. For data science / ML, you need to know statistics like the folds on you ballsack, but that's about it.

If you are uber-autist, then you can go into scientific computing and design numerically stable methods for the other uber-autists using matlab and whatthefucknot. It's an extremly stable job, because nobody wants to do it.

That changes a lot if you want to do hardware stuff, like chip design / manufacturing. I don't know much about it, aside from that it's harder than everything in pure CS by light years.

Don’t go CS. Now a shitload of foids and chads go online 5$ course and proclaim themselves as tech gods and they take up real engineer places in companies. The space is getting cucked as fuck, also a huge influx of foids go to CS because it suits them - 0 physical work, only stabbing the keys on muh macbook. Go regular engineering, foids are scared from electricity and mechanics.

I did cs and got Fs and Ds because I'm low IQ and lazy and couldn't get an internship because of low GPA, laziness and nonNT. Just be genetically high IQ. You have to be also NT enough to create connections with professors and startup ceos. I dropped out.

working a job you enjoy or are interested in is a wagie myth
