Exactly, of course the main reason men chase women is because women hold the key to reproduction and continuation of the species, therefore sex/reproduction is the NATURAL reason for our pursuit of women.
But as humans, we are diffERent to most animals because we have an EGO, and it is part of the “male ego” to desire the ability to command RESPECT from othER men (and women).
Historically, The quantity and quality of the women that a man could have sex with, was a reflection of his “status”, so men evolved to chase women in ordER to receive MORE VALIDATION from society (in the form of RESPECT).
the reason that receiving validation from society is important, is because having positive social interactions with people and being accepted by others is the key to forming connections.
