It cost more than 2000 Euro here in Germany and there is plenty of other stuff in addition to it. From bureaucracy (you have to wait 2 months to do theory exam) to mandatory theory lessons.
On top of that I am a bit incompetent and wasted my life behind a screen. This is why I am practicing currently. If you do not have a driver licence at age 17, you just lost it and female driving will mogg you. Doing the driver licence at age 25 is not the same and absolutely emasuclating.

Imagine you are working hard for little or money or cannot even find a job and therefore you are forced to take public transportation while females have an easier job, earns more money and is driving in some expensive SUV while you have to take public transportation. It is similar in my country. I am actually NOT a driver's licencecel, just a NEET cel. I did actually have a car when I was 19, but my life has gone backwards since then.

Anyway, to get to the point, Europe takes road safety very seriously, as we do not have guns, so cars are the next most dangerous thing.

You have to complete the allocated number of hours of tuition to ensure you are safe and competent to control a motor vehicle.

Often, due to high vehicle ownership costs, the driving instructor has to charge a lot of money per hour and this is transferred to the driving student.

On top of this, the test has a very STRICT pass/fail criteria where you have to perform a variety of stupid pointless maneuvers that you would never use in day to day driving circumstances.

For instance, reversing around a corner. If you touch the kerb, you fail.

If you don't indicate (turn signal) before you make a turn, you fail.

There are loads of stupid and arbitrary fail criteria where you can fail even if you're overall driving skills are good.

rip eurocels, that's going to suck when I move there for cheap living standards. In America I've known people who passed there test by driving down a block, stopping at a stop sign, and then parallel parking(they'd park like a foot out from the road) and that's all it takes generally, I'd have my license, but the car broke down the day of the exam srs, so I just said fuck it and haven't bothered since.
