The days drift by in solitude,
Scenes outside my window fade.
Each hour seems an endless trudge,
In this cell my soul has made.
Laughter and light pass me by,
Beyond the glass yet out of reach.
Joy is a stranger to my life,
Its warmth I'll never beseech.
What pleasure could this world hold,
With none to walk its paths with me?
Every step feels leaden, cold,
No destination sets me free.
Just empty moments stretching on,
Filling hours with formless dread.
The past behind, the future gone,
Alone with shadows in my head.
Trapped in isolation's mournful grip,
No hand to hold, no heart to heal.
On this lonely road I cannot slip,
For on these bars my hands congeal.
So as the light outside expires,
And darkness wraps its cloak around,
My sole companion still is solitude,
No remedy for this gloom is found.
