It's easy to call their philosophy: opportunistic. If equality is good for them, then they want it, if freedom is good for them then they want it too. it happeened in most countries in central/east europe, Poland lost ~18% of population mostly young men. After the war every men could get a wife. I've always wondered about this, if inceldom was a problem in socialist countries

Actually I remember lurking on /r/communism one time and I saw someone make a post saying "Communism makes sense except the promotion of the full sexual liberation of women, which can have bad effects on society as a whole, and hurts men" or sonething to that effect. The post eventually got deleted. I used to browse leftist communities all the time, I still do sorta, I would probably still be a Marxist if I didn't discover that there's a contradiction between female and male sexuality (could possibly be reconciled with Marxism - marxism is all about contradictions, can this contradiction be resolved or sublimated?) and that gender equality isn't possible because of the sexual power women hold.

That movie was Enemy at the Gates. Interesting film, on the plus side it wasn't your generic cookie cutter WWII movie, and it didn't gloss over the brutality of the Stalinist regime. On the other hand, the ending (the character you mentioned, a political officer, ends up questioning all his long-held beliefs and ultimately sacrifices himself so the "hero" Chad sniper can kill the enemy sniper and ride off into the sunset with the Stacy female soldier) was formulaic Hollywood, with the typical way of "solving" a love triangle (kill off one of the men, always the less chadly one; Pearl Harbor did the same thing).

I didn't know it was directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. He's an interesting director, for sure. I saw "the name of the rose" as a kid, possibly the first sex scene I've ever watched on screen. Hot AF. IIRC the whole plot of the movie was kind of a black pill because it's all about sex being this powerful, secret force that turns men mad. It's only a tiny black because the story takes place in a very different society from ours so it's hard to relate to, but it's dumb because human nature is always the same.
