This hit me the hardest out of anything, when all the nerds and losers I played MMORPGs back in the early-mid-late 2000s, since then they have moved on in life, they some how managed to escape being a video gaming shut-in and actually developed some what of a normal life by their 30s. I never did though, I am essentially in the same situation I was back then, I was never able to progress and move on in life.

I think this is why video games no longer let me cope anymore, every-time I try to play a game, I end up realizing I am the oldest person, everyone else is in their late teens or early 20s at the latest, and I just feel completely out of place.

Recently I installed some new game, and in one of the online games I played, some guy that sounded like he was in his late teens/early 20s at the oldest, says to me "Hey VirginAutistManlet, you sound like you're at least 30, generally curious bro, what are you doing playing games at that age, I'm surprised you even have time to play at that age?". Im in my early 30s, but Im surprised the guy actually thought I sounded old, I think that I have a baby voice.

To think at one time (when I was 15, 16, 17, etc) I use to lie and say I was older than I was.

I exercise so much already, I spend so much time doing research, I do everything I can to pass the time, but eventually I end up trying a video game as last resort cope.

When someones spend 10-15 hours a day on games for years during their peak youth (18-24), you don't exactly expect them to be lookers, considering good looking guys are too busy being around women during that period to be bothered playing games.

Yes, I came to this realization in my early 20s as well, but I had no way to escaping it, I tried disappearing off the face of the internet like those guys all did, but it led me nowhere. In my early 20s I had stopped playing games for YEARS, and it had no change on my life whatsoever, I didn't just head towards a normie life, if anything I regressed socially since I stopped playing games. At least I would be socializing (online) when I played games back then, when I gave that up cold turkey I was left with nothing, and years down the line when I tried to return, it wasn't the same anymore.

for me i kind of made gaming a career as a platinum trophy hunter on the psn, the trophies do serve as a sort of surrogate achievement in place of real life success. its something i can point at and show that i at least am a beast when it comes to getting achievements in video games.

of course any normies you tell will only laugh and shame you for being a loser, but really fuck that. im proud of my 55 platinums and can at least say I've succeeded in something. video games will forever be the greatest escape from reality and will only get more compelling and immersive as time goes on.

Here's a story from a guy I know personally who got his first Girlfriend in Final Fantasy Online (FFXIV) with 30 years old.


So I knew this guy back from WoW days, but we all moved on to FFXIV. He was 30 years old, and he was the typical "guy living in mom's basement guy". All he did was play video games, never went outside, etc.

So around 2 years ago, he met a woman in her late 20's in FFXIV. She joined our Free Company (it's like a guild), and they were pretty much sitting together in Discord VC all day, and after 1-2 months they decided to meet up.
So he went outside for the first time in a year or something, to get a hair cut, get proper clothes, shave, etc. So he would look at least hygenic when they met up (honestly, he wasn't bad looking. He just literally never took showers, shaved, cut his hair etc. she knew he was that kind of "mom's basement" guy, she still met up with him).
So, everything went well. They moved in after 7 months or so, they are now 2 years later engaged and she's pregnant with his kid.
He also got a job now, etc.
I still see them online sometimes.
