There really is nothing else to it. We might like to think that certain ideals are true in and of themselves but none are. All they do is provide a framework for humans to act and behave so that society doesn't collapse back to ooga booga.

Take religion as an example. Many on this forum hate it and hate God because this worldview failed them. How are you supposed to cope with God's justice when infidel Chads and whores are all around you, sinning without repercussions. While you rot. This wouldn't have happened if any of you were born centuries ago when religion still had utility and sway, and people around you acted accordingly to those ideals.

Its only easy to become an atheist now because those ideals have failed people. But any ideal that replaces them is not any more real.

Sinners have pleasure life and burn in Hell, incels go to Heaven after a life of suffering and celibacy.

Funny how this cope kept people in line until it didn't. Fear of hell was supposed to make people behave in this life itself. Now its reduced to a cope for those who are clinging to ideals that don't work.

not just religion but Any belief system can be a tool. There's been quite a few politicians over the years who have used populism to win mass support, purely for the sake of power. Its also been argued lately that in the US, political parties are taking the place of religion in the country. Political ideologies can just as easily be used for mass manipulation as religion. Any sort of belief system can be, even if its not something that most would consider a religion.

I'm not talking about certain instances where ideals could be used as tools. They fundamentally ARE tools that serve a system.
