If he was particularly ugly there is no way a sculptor would put his neck on the line by showcasing that unless he did it after Caligula's death.

Everyone hated caligula and the roman senate issued a damnatio memorae to destroy all images and and statues of him after his death.So im not exactly sure how there came to be busts of him unless it was stored away from the public eye or done long after his death which would make it pretty innacurate
