I didn't mean to go on such a large rant but I did, so warning for that:
Dying is severely underrated, and I dont even mean this in a "Man im so depressed I need to end it" way, I just mean in general people dont give enough thought into how they want to die and how other people should be allowed to die.
Who wants to die scared and alone in a burning vehicle, slowly bleeding out and panicking all because some jack ass caused a head on collision with you? It's tragic that most people who exit the world do so with situations like this, with their final moments being chaotic and scary rather than controlled and peaceful. This is why I want euthanasia. At any moment I can die and chances are i'll know i'm dying and it will be terrifying because I haven't prepared for it. It will likely be painful and agonizing, and those would be my final memories of this world before I go.
But I feel like I should be allowed to end it peacefully anytime I want to, regardless of if I have an illness or not.
It doesn't make sense to wait until I die unexpectedly and horrifically, I don't want that. That's my biggest fear, that I won't be able to go out on my own terms. Through my death I could probably contribute far more to society than with my life. I'd be more than happy to have to pay for all the medical expenses that involve both killing me and the after-care, i'd be more than happy to pay large taxes on that so my money goes back into helping society, hell, the government can seize my property if they so choose since I have no heir and i'd be fine with that.
All I want though is a peaceful death in return. The idea that if you give people a choice to kill themselves that suddenly society will crumble because the people who contribute their productivity will suddenly be gone is an antiquated idea. We're about to enter the age of automation, most of us will be out of jobs, and we're entering a point where we're overpopulated anyways and out numbers keep on growing, so I see no reason why euthanasia shouldn't be allowed.
Give more thought as to how you're going to die and how you want to because it's going to happen to all of us and it's arguably the most important event of our lives. I think we should have more of a choice in how we part from this world, and I believe more people should be concerned with how they're gonna go.
