The statement that art has meaning or is inherently political is true in the sense that that authors personal beliefs/bias do influence the author(s) work to some degree.
However, when the aforementioned phrase is mentioned it is usually the bastardized version of it. What the person usually means is that the author actually endorses/supports the person’s belief, ideologies and or political views. Usually this is a sign confirmation bias.
Now this type of confirmation bias isn’t specific towards one ideology, however I’ve noticed
that this behavior is typically more present in “left-leaning” people.
