I've noticed a trend on social media where people claim that because an AI is siding with their views, they're objectively right. There's this perception that generative AI is a super-intelligent, non-biased sentient being. In reality, it's a program trained on data that's made to have certain biases to follow the law and align with its creators' ideological views. It'll regurgitate scrambled versions of opinions based on data it's been trained on, but it's not truly capable of original thought as it's only responding to your prompts.

Unfortunately, it seems that we're already heading down the path of normies seeing AI as always objectively true. I wouldn't be surprised if AI serves almost a similar role as religion, where it establishes a sense of objectivity to enforce moral dogmas.

Our modern "scientifically" driven society is already practically religious when it comes to moral dogmas and the blatant lies that are protected by them. Anything having to do with women is a good example. If you think about it, generative AI is the ultimate example of the normies' ignorance and almost superstitious level of beliefs regarding technology and science. Again, they view it as an ultimate intellectual authority because they have no real understanding of how it works.
It'll act as a sort of god to enforce the dogma.

It's a perversely ironic conclusion to progressivist zealotry, disingenuous pop science.

scientism
excessive belief in the power of scientific knowledge and techniques.

It will and imo always has been a religion esce thing. Todays "AI" isn't even really AI its just a really sophisticated algo, there is no intelligence behind it or thought but people already consider it god. when real AI/AGI is achieved it'll be worse

I would believe something similar if science weren't so liable to be corrupted.

Ofc. People are too amazed by what appears to be an AI talking to them. It's insane how they spend days just messaging these bots. I'm not sure we'll ever get man made independent sentient technological intelligence.

I think what we have now is just the stumbling pieces of something that could be great and sentient but the tech behind it currently Isn't something that I think will get us there, it will probably be a bit disruptive to the economy is areas though

I don't think humans will be able of creating sentience with technology alone and no human brain tissue anytime soon. We'll see
