As far as I see it, America is the kingmaker. The argument often touted is that we pump resources into Western Europe to keep them robust so we have good trade and “strong allies”. However, America could do that with other blocs in the world.
Europe is also pretty illiberal when compared to the freedoms America allows so I don’t buy the whole free world rhetoric anymore. Sure they’re democratic , but when you can get arrested and charged for a stupid racist tweet to a soccer player in practically every European country, or when European countries enact ethnicity based discrimination to combat refugees (see Denmark), how free are these countries really?
Europoors, and the West in general, should fear the day a majority of US adults are not descended from Europeans anymore because the only thing keeping the dysfunctional relationship going is shared ethnic ties.
