I'm sure most users on the forum would be in favour of harsh penalties for adulterers and sinners of sexual immorality.
The bible speaks very harshly in regards to this sin, and in many instances can be "unforgivable" in regards to forgiveness and means of repentance.

Something us incels don't have to worry about much XD
One of the few benefits of inceldom

I believe that an adulterer can be forgiven, but will be rare. As the majority will not truly repent in their heart.

The punishments of adultery is severe, and Jesus has a large emphasis in his teachings regarding this message on adultery.

And whilst we shouldn't make any additional "unforgivable sins" other than blasphemousy against the Holy Spirit - the individual has to truly repent in their heart first to be forgiven - hence the "unforgivable" nature with adultery.

So the question should be less about:
โ€œCan God forgive adultery?โ€
and more:
โ€œHow do we know repentance is real?โ€

(AI used for the response structure - to be easier to follow)

1. Adultery often involves sustained deception

Unlike a momentary outburst, adultery usually includes:
  • lying
  • secrecy
  • manipulation
  • repeated choices over time

Critics of easy restoration argue this can indicate a hardened heart rather than weakness alone.

2. Repentance may be superficial

Some churches worry people regret:
  • consequences
  • exposure
  • shame
  • loss of marriage/community
rather than the sin itself.

So they ask:
Is the person truly repentant, or simply sorry they were caught?

This concern is not unique to adultery, but adultery commonly raises it because affairs can continue emotionally even after confession.

3. Sexual sin affects covenant uniquely - against one's own body

1 Corinthians 6 states that sexual sin is a sin against oneโ€™s own body.

Thus they treat it with heightened seriousness.

4. Remarriage in regards to Adultery

Some churches argued:
  • if someone leaves a spouse and forms a new union improperly,
  • continuing in that relationship is continuing adultery.

So repentance would require ending the relationship, not merely apologising or "repenting".
โ€œWhoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another commits adultery.โ€
So it is an ongoing sin.

5. Jesus spoke strongly about adultery

Examples of Jesus intensifying the commandment regarding Sexual Immorality/Adultery:

Matthew 5:28
"But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery in his heart.โ€

He shifts focus from external act โ†’ internal desire.
He treats adultery as beginning in the heart, not just the behaviour. You don't need to carry out the physical action to be spiritually sinful.

So we can conclude:
Modern churches underestimate sexual covenant-breaking.

Why I believe some churches have a lighter approach to adultery:

Permanent condemnation can produce despair rather than repentance.

Some churches found excessively harsh approaches led to:
  • hopelessness
  • hiding sin
  • suicidal shame
  • broken families without restoration
rather than transformation.

Most of us here are lustful and immoral. Most of us here jerk off every day and want to fuck every ass we see even if we can't due to our looks

Eh times have changed I guess

Although I was referring to the people committing these sins (and we aren't because we are celibate)

that's the point it's our flesh but if we can't fuck everything we see

we may as well give up our flesh for Christ

Adultery has to main big problems and that it profanes the body which is a Temple of our soul .So sexual sin defiles us .

Also it is also Idolatry too because the relationship often becomes a idol before God as do many earthly relationships.

Yes true

Think most Churches don't like to touch this subject due to their demographics, unfortunately or fortunately (depending on who you ask) most people who go to church nowadays are women, men aren't attending church as much due to some churches only blaming men for the situation we are living in, and not holding women accountable.

No adultery for your sorry ass :feelsclown: Lets be honest here , you would fuck if a htb lets you let alone you get some Money for it .

Very true

One thing I'd add is that genuine repentance isn't measured by words alone, but by a changed life. Scripture consistently teaches that true repentance bears fruit (Matthew 3:8).
Forgiveness is available through Christ, but repentance involves turning away from sin - and not simply feeling regret over its consequences.
