Hi everyone, this is my first post here, and I wanted to share a lesson I’ve recently learned that might resonate with some of you.
One of the lessons I’ve recently learned, unfortunately, and which is a universal piece of advice, is about assuming the worst in people. I only learned it late because of deception. One should look at actions, for they reveal the truth. Who said, brother, that you have to wait for someone to confess to you or for you to uncover their true self? Of course, they’ll deny it. No human is free of signs, and one should learn how to read between the lines so as not to be deceived. Honestly, the examples of this are endless, and everyone has their own perspective:
  1. A person who wants to sell you something, whether they’re affiliated with a group or promoting a product.
  2. A person who sees you as a child and doesn’t want to hurt your feelings—this is far more annoying than someone who insults you directly. The remedy for this is to accept the truth, no matter how bitter, and throw dirt in their faces.
  3. A person who tells you the truth but with the intent to hurt your ego. The cure for this is to never show your weakness to anyone, even if you have to lie about it. However, there’s no harm in showing your weakness to someone who shares the same struggle or is in a worse situation, as a way to comfort them.
The bottom line is that signs matter, and words without substance are useless. In my story with the teenage crush, one of the most embarrassing memories is that I told her, 'I love you,' and I humbled myself for her, while her actions toward me showed her disdain, and my actions toward her were enough to replace the sentence I said. I ended up giving her enough validation to last her a lifetime. I believe realizing this is the essence of wisdom. Thanks for reading, and I’d love to hear your thoughts!
