It does seem that way in the US at least -- women and blacks get special "oppression" status. Asians and whites are held to a higher standard for Uni entry (there was a whole blowup about race based requirements differing at prominent Unis in the US very recently -- one of few things Trump actually did right was attempt to bring that shit to light) and where I work you can literally get away with doing almost nothing if you're a minority class. So, we have few women and blacks where I work/in my field generally so the ones we do get are given special status and won't ever be fired purely to avoid the possible lawsuit. In practice what this means though is if you're a white male you actually have to work and do your job, but if you're a woman or black, you can coast without concern since you're a diversity hire anyway.
Affirmative action based on race is dumb -- I have no other words for it. For example, Beyonce a super privileged individual would have a much easier time getting into certain jobs and Unis and a much easier time getting certain benefits to boot from the government because she's a black woman despite her being privileged in actuality and being less deserving vs many white males out there.
You have to base that shit on context/background or just plain old "merit" at least or you end up with garbage like that happening. Being a white male everyone hates you and assumes you're privileged even though you didn't fucking do anything wrong and even though low status ugly white males are still garbage fodder as far as society is concerned.
