Abysmal social skills but not autistic

Does anyone else kind of freeze up after the "so how are you doing" stage? I've never had many friends, always been "the weird kid", so it's no wonder I turned out like this. I genuinely have no idea what to say, I just freeze up as my brain desperately struggles to search for the next dialogue option. But I have a best friend who I can talk to completely normally, and sometimes I wonder why I can't talk to everyone that way. I just have a seeming inability to. The thing is I'm not even autistic (but everyone thinks I am anyway).

Same here, but it is a lot easier to talk to children. I have a harder time "relating" to adults JFL

I've always had problems talking to people irl, it has gotten worse since I don't socially interact with anyone anymore.

I've never had a real friend, even in grade school when I had a semblance of a "social circle" I was always an outsider, but I have one best friend/roommate now and I can't imagine ever being as close to someone as him. He's more of a "cyborg", he can socialize with normies just fine if need be but deep down he's a lot more like me, withdrawn and isolated.

Yeah, I hated that "social circle" bullshit since socializing was never my thing and it's a difficult thing to do for many, including you and myself, but atleast you have a friend now.

I dropped out in 8th grade, I never even got the high school experience. One of my earliest memories is laying on the cold hard floor and staring at the ceiling, just thinking about it all, while all the other kids went to bounce balls around and socialize. So I've been this way since day one, and I'm not sure why. It's not autism, but it's definitely something.

I dropped out in 8th grade, I never even got the high school experience. One of my earliest memories is laying on the cold hard floor and staring at the ceiling, just thinking about it all, while all the other kids went to bounce balls around and socialize. So I've been this way since day one, and I'm not sure why. It's not autism, but it's definitely something.

Damn 8th grade? I dropped out when I was 16 which was almost 6 years ago, I have some high school experience and trust me it's not something you want to experience as an outcast, you get constantly bothered by normies because you're quiet and never talk to anyone.

It's easy to get past social anxiety, I learnt to, but it doesn't change my autism lol, my thought process just seem strange to people once the conversation wanders off a bit too long.
