When the television show was first made I was growing up as a teenager, perhaps the last visual representation of what old America looked like before it became the hellscape that it is today. The late 1990s or even the early 2000s weren't perfect by any means but things really started going downhill after 2005 with the advent of internet social media and where everybody started owning a cellphone. Now we live in a world where face-to-face conversation between two strangers is rare and everything as far as social interaction is concerned is completely digitalized. Some kind of natural innocence was lost from that period in this vulgar transformation that only took twenty-odd years to achieve. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, and we were all just too young and dumb to realize what was transgressing. I still remember analog television sets, coin payphones, and old-fashioned wire phones. I remember in my pre-teens the first major internet computers to come out, although it was ages ago, it still seems like only yesterday for me.
